• Districtwide Preschool Update (03-07-25)

  Good morning,
  

   

  We are excited to announce that, as part of our Preschool Expansion Aid (PEA) funding, we will be adding four additional preschool classrooms for the 2025-2026 school year. These preschool classrooms will be housed at Arthur L. Johnson High School. The classrooms will be in an isolated wing of the school that the remainder of the building will not have access to. We will be able to welcome our youngest of learners to an optimal, safe learning environment with minimal disruption to our existing students and staff. Our current Frank K. Hehnly School kindergarten classrooms will continue to be for our grade K students. At this time, there will be no modular classrooms added to FKH.

   

  Our plan is to send preschool placements for next school year in the coming days upon receiving confirmation of our number of students being funded from the New Jersey Department of Education. Parents/guardians of children placed at ALJ will be invited to an evening event where they will get to see the vision for that site. 

   

  On another note, please know that the Board of Education and administration are in the process of working with, for example, our district architect to develop plans to enhance our facilities across the district. We will be able to share specifics in the coming months as this process progresses.

   

  As always, thank you for your partnership with us. This partnership is a gift to our students, staff, and schools. Enjoy the rest of your day and the upcoming weekend ahead.

• SY 25-26 Calendar and Snow Giveback Days

  Please see the attached for next school year's calendar that was approved at last evening's Board of Education meeting. This calendar is also posted on the district website (http://www.clarkschools.org) under the "More" tab towards the top.

   

  As a friendly reminder, schools will be closed in the following order if our three snow days continue to not be needed: Friday, May 23, 2025; Monday, June 9, 2025; Friday, May 30, 2025.

  Based on the statewide change in the June 2025 Primary Election Day from Tuesday, June 3, 2025 to Tuesday, June 10, 2025, the Board of Education approved the below revisions to this school year's calendar at their meeting last evening:

   

       Schools Closed for Students/Professional Development for Staff from Tuesday, June 3, 2025 to Tuesday, June 10, 2025

   

       Second Snow Giveback Day (if needed) from Monday, June 2, 2025 to Monday, June 9, 2025

  Good afternoon,

  Please log into your child's Genesis account and then look under the "Bus" tab to see if he/she is scheduled to be on a bus route this coming school year.  If you see a route number, then follow the below steps to find the route specifics.

  Go to http://www.clarkschools.org.

  Select the "More" tab toward the top right of the page.

  Select the "Departments" sub-tab toward the top of that list.

  Select the "Business Office" sub-tab at the top of that list.

  Click on the "2024-2025 Route Summaries" link toward the bottom left of that page.

  A link to that document is also included below for your convenience.

  If you do not see a route number within Genesis, then your child will not be receiving transportation through the school this year (with the exception of Union County Vocational-Technical Schools (UCVTS) students who are eligible for transportation between ALJ and UCVTS despite not having a route number in Genesis).

  Below is a link to a document that explains how this UCVTS busing is impacted in inclement weather.  This document can also be found on the Business Office page from above.
